DIY Mardi Gras Mesh Teardrop

This week our floral designer Tim created a fun and easy Mardi Gras Mesh Teardrop that can be used throughout the Mardi Gras season. With just a few supplies you can put together this fun teardrop and laissez les bon temps rouler!

Supplies needed:

  • To get started, first you will need to gather all of your necessary supplies. Feel free to change out any of the items we have used to fit your personal preference.

  • Tim first added the Mardi Gras Mesh to the teardrop by tying the end of the mesh to the teardrop using the branches. He then looped the mesh over the teardrop tying the loops down as he went along the length of the teardrop. He did not use any additional wire or chenille stems to tie down the mesh.

  • Tim then used a drill to put two small holes in the top and bottom of our Mardi Gras sign. He used floral wire to tie the sign to the teardrop. He placed the sign about midway down the teardrop and a little off center.

  • Next Tim used both of the ribbons he chose to tie a stacked three loop bow. He used the floral wire to secure the bow and then tie it to the teardrop at the top of the piece. He separated the loops to give us alternating colors throughout the bow.

  • Tim then tied 4 single loop bows to placed beneath the sign at the bottom of the teardrop and just above the sign on either side. This helped fill in a few open spaces that we had.

  • When you have finished adding the one loop bows you can come to a stopping point like we did. You could also add any Mardi Gras florals or accents that you may have on hand. We opted not to for this particular piece.
