DIY Stars, Stripes & Summer Teardrop
Nothing says summer quite like red, white & blue décor, and this week’s featured design from our floral designer Susan is bursting with patriotic charm! The Stars, Stripes & Summer Teardrop combines rustic burlap textures, bold American flag ribbon, and vibrant wildflower-inspired blooms to create a statement piece perfect for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, or all-season summer decorating. Full of movement, color, and handcrafted detail, this eye-catching teardrop is a beautiful way to celebrate the spirit of summer and Americana style.
Supplies needed:
- (1) 32" Evergreen Teardrop
- (3) 21" Patriotic Wild Flower Filler Spray
- (3) Red Poppy Filler Bush
- (1) 10" Deco Mesh - Burlap
- (1) 10" Red Metallic Deco Mesh
- (1) 10" Royal Blue Metallic Deco Mesh
- (1) 10" Iridescent White Metallic Mesh
- (1) Patriotic Ribbon
- (1) 2.5" White Linen Ribbon
- (1) 2.5" Natural Burlap Ribbon
- Hot Glue
- Chenille Stems
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters
- Here is a look at everything that was used in this Teardrop
- Susan got started with this Teardrop by first fluffing out the branches and then adding the 10" Burlap Mesh down the length of the Teardrop. She zig zagged the Burlap Mesh down the front of the Teardrop leaving a little length at the bottom for a tail. Then she made three bundles of the red, white and blue Mesh rolled into tubes. She placed these throughout the Teardrop using the branches to secure each bundle.
- Once the Mesh had been added to the Teardrop Susan moved on to tying the Bow for the top. She tied two loops of each ribbon, stacking them as she went. She left the tails a little longer of each ribbon. She secured the Bow with a Chenille Stem and used that to attach the Bow to the Teardrop also.
- Once the Bow had been added to the top of the Teardrop Susan started to add the florals in and around the top. She cut each of the florals into individual sections and then used Hot Glue to secure each piece.
- Once the top of the Teardrop was complete Susan started to work on the mid-section. She tied another Bow to go in the middle of the Teardrop using the same ribbons as above. She did tie this one slightly smaller than the top. She used a Chenille Stem to secure this one also.
- Susan then filled in the mid-section with florals once the Bow had been added. She used Hot Glue to secure each section.
- Then to finish off this Teardrop Susan tied one more Bow for the bottom section. Once that Bow was secure she filled in with the remaining florals.
