DIY Christmas Rose Memorial Saddle

This week’s blog highlights the Christmas Rose Memorial Saddle, thoughtfully designed by our floral designer Emily. Featuring a graceful blend of red rose buds and white open roses, this arrangement beautifully represents love, remembrance, and the enduring spirit of the season. Finished with elegant gold Christmas accents, the design adds a soft festive touch while maintaining a timeless, respectful look. The Christmas Rose Memorial Saddle is a meaningful way to honor loved ones during the holidays, blending tradition, beauty, and heartfelt sentiment.

Supplies needed:

  • Here is a look at everything that we used in this Memorial Saddle.
  • Emily started this Memorial Saddle by first attaching the Floral Styrofoam Block to the Saddle Frame. She placed the Styrofoam across the metal prongs of the frame and then pushed the Styrofoam onto the frame. She also added some Hot Glue to the prongs to help secure the two together. Then she began adding the Leather Leaf Fern to the perimeter of the Saddle. She added pieces along the outer edge of the Styrofoam rotating the Saddle as she placed them. She added a bit of Hot Glue to the end of each stem before placing it in the Styrofoam.

  • Once the Leather Leaf Fern had been added, Emily moved on to adding the florals. She started with one single white rose in the center of the Styrofoam. This one stem will be the tallest stem on the Saddle, all of the other stems will be either the same size or a little bit shorter than the first. This will help keep the Saddle from being too tall. Emily added the first white rose and then added a few pieces of each of the other florals to the top of the saddle; alternating them out from the middle.

  • When the top first layer had been added Emily moved on to repeating the process down the sides of the Saddle.

  • Then when both sides had been filled in with the florals Emily began to fill in any remaining holes throughout the Saddle.

  • Once all of the florals had been added this Memorial Saddle was complete. This process can be recreated with any color or combination of flowers for any season. Removing the Christmas accents from this Saddle would make it appropriate to use throughout the year and not just at Christmas.
