DIY Fall Mums Memorial Saddle
This week on our DIY Blog, we're honoring the season with a heartfelt tribute: the Fall Mums Memorial Saddle, thoughtfully crafted by our talented floral designer, Susan. Using a warm blend of rich autumn hues and classic fall mums, Susan has created a beautiful arrangement designed to bring comfort and remembrance during the fall season. Whether placed at a cemetery or in a special memorial space, this saddle is a meaningful way to celebrate loved ones with the beauty of fall's natural splendor.
Supplies needed:
- (1) Cemetery Saddle Casket Piece Frame
- (1) Floral Styrofoam Block
- (4) Silk Leather Leaf Bush
- (3) Bold Fall Mums & Wheat Floral Bush
- (3) Fall Sunflowers & Mums Floral Bush
- Wire Cutters
- Hot Glue
- Before getting started, make sure you have gathered all of the necessary supplies
- Susan got started with this Memorial Saddle by first creating a base layer of Leather Leaf Fern around the outer edge of the Styrofoam and placing pieces on the top as well. She used 2 Bushes of Leather Leaf to complete the base layer.
- Once the base layer of Leather Leaf was complete Susan cut all of the stems off of the 6 Fall Floral Bushes. She began adding one color of Mums to the Saddle first, rotating the Saddle to make sure she got even coverage of where she was placing the stems. As she stuck them into the Styrofoam she added a bit of Hot Glue to the end of each stem.
- Once all of the first color of Mums had been added she moved onto adding the other colors from the Bush. Again, rotating the Saddle to ensure ever coverage of every color.
- Susan moved onto adding the Feather/Wheat Accents and Berries once all of the Florals had been added to the Saddle. She placed a few throughout the Saddle, using Hot Glue to secure each stem into the Styrofoam.
- To complete this Saddle Susan added a final layer of Leather Leaf Fern to the skirt of the Saddle. You can also fill in any holes you may have in the body portion of the Saddle with additional pieces of Leather Leaf.
- When finished you will have a gorgeous Saddle to honor loved ones with. These steps can be applied to any Season. A simple change in flowers and this can be recreated for Spring, Summer and Christmas.
