DIY Grinch Christmas Teardrop

This week on the blog, our talented floral designer Susan is bringing a dose of whimsical holiday mischief with her Grinch Christmas Teardrop creation! Bursting with bold pops of red and green, playful textures, and that unmistakable Grinchy charm, this teardrop is the perfect statement piece for anyone who loves a fun twist on traditional Christmas décor. Susan’s design blends festive flair with a touch of mischief, making it a cheerful addition to any door, mantel, or wall. Join us as we take a closer look at how she brought this spirited holiday design to life! You can recreate this same design using the supplies and steps listed below

Supplies needed:

  • Here's a look at all of the supplies used in this Teardrop.
  • Susan began this Teardrop by first fluffing the branches of the Teardrop. They need to be straightened out to give a good foundation to work with.

  • Once the Teardrop had been fluffed Susan added a layer of ribbon looped throughout the Teardrop. She layered the Red Glitter and Lime Plaid Ribbon together and weaved it through using the branches of the Teardrop to tie down the ribbon.

  • Next Susan added 2 each of the Red, Lime & Green Curly Spray and the Grinch Hands Spray to the top of the Teardrop. She used Hot Glue to secure each of the stems.

  • Then Susan worked on tying the large Bow for the top of the Teardrop. She used all 4 of the ribbons chosen for this project. She started with the Grinch Legs ribbon tying a single loop, but leaving the tails long. She repeated this step with each of the additional ribbons until she had the size that she wanted. She secured the Bow with a Chenille Stem and then added the Bow to the top of the Teardrop.

  • Next Susan cut the Lime Green Glitter Fern Spray into multiple pieces and then added them throughout the Teardrop. She used Hot Glue on the end of each piece to secure them into the Teardrop.

  • Then Susan added the three Red Glitter Cedar Sprays to the Teardrop. She placed one on either side of the Bow and then one beneath the Bow in the middle of the Teardrop.

  • Susan then added the remainder of the Grinch Hands Sprays to the Teardrop. She placed one on either side of the Bow using Hot Glue to secure each stem.

  • Next Susan added the Plush Grinch Heads and the Red & Lime Green Tubing Clusters to the Teardrop. She placed them throughout the body of the Teardrop and used Hot Glue to secure them.

  • Lastly, to finish up, Susan added the remaining Red, Green & Lime Curly Sprays to the bottom of the Teardrop. She cut these into multiple sections and added them to both sides.

  • When finished you will have a fun and festive Teardrop to use inside or outside your home!
