DIY Christmas Memorial Cross

This week on the blog, our talented floral designer Susan brings heartfelt beauty to the season with her stunning Christmas Memorial Cross. Crafted with care and meaning, this piece features bright, bold Christmas ribbon paired with frosted pine and vibrant red berries—creating a touching tribute that feels both festive and reverent. Whether you’re honoring a loved one during the holidays or simply looking for a meaningful arrangement filled with seasonal charm, Susan’s design is a beautiful reminder of love, memory, and Christmas spirit.

Supplies needed:

  • Here is a look at the items used in this Memorial Cross. At the time of posting this Blog we were sold out of the Cardinal Ribbon used; any Christmas Ribbon could be substituted for the Cardinal Ribbon.
  • Susan started this Memorial Cross by first tying the Bow for the center of the Cross, She started with the 7/8" Red Velvet Ribbon and tied a three loop Bow; one loop on one side and then two loops on the other. She left some ribbon out for tails also. Then she added the 2.5" Ribbon next; she tied 4 loops in total of the 2.5" Ribbon. Once she was happy with the size of the Bow she secured it with a Chenille Stem and then fluffed the loops into place.

  • Once the Bow was secure she moved on to adding the Frosted Pine & Mixed Berries Picks to the Cross. The first pick she placed in the Cross near the center. Using a little force she poked the stem down into the Cross and used a bit of Hot Glue on the end to help secure it. She then spread the branches of the Pick apart a little to give the Pick better coverage.

  • Next Susan cut apart the Cedar Sprays into individual sections and added them throughout the top of the Cross. She used a bit of Hot Glue on the end of each piece to help secure it.

  • Then Susan added the second Frosted Pine and Mixed Berries spray to the Cross. She added this one near the center of the cross, but coming from the opposite direction.

  • Next Susan finished off the Memorial Cross by adding the Bow to the center. She used the Chenille Stem that she tied the Bow with to secure it to the Cross.

  • Once the Bow had been added the Memorial Cross was complete. To use this in a cemetery you will need to attach the Cross to a metal Easel. It can also be used as Door Decor without the Easel.
