DIY Patriotic Summer Memorial Cone
This week on our DIY Blog, we’re thrilled to feature a heartfelt and festive creation by our talented floral designer, Susan—the Patriotic Summer Memorial Cone. We have thoughtfully crafted step-by-step instructions so you can recreate this meaningful design at home, whether you're placing it at a gravesite or incorporating it into a summer tribute display. Supplies needed:
- (1) 8" Floral Styrofoam Cemetery Vase Insert
- (2) Fall Sunflower Floral Bush
- (1) 17" Patriotic Daisy Bush
- (2) 24" Red Fabric Flowers, Leaves & Berries Spray
- (1) Silk Leather Leaf Bush
- Wire Cutters
- Hot Glue
- Before getting started make sure you have gathered all of the necessary supplies. This Memorial Cone can be recreated using any florals or accents. You can adjust the season simply by changing which floral bushes you are using.
- Susan began this Memorial Cone by placing the first Sunflower Bush into the middle of the Styrofoam cone. She forced it down into the middle of the Styrofoam and then adjusted the flowers to where they were more separated out. She used a cemetery case holder to hold the cone while she was working with it. You can use a coffee cup if you do not have a holder. She also had a lazy Susan to use to help rotate the Cone as she worked with it. Susan also cut apart the second Sunflower Bush and added those to the Styrofoam to help fill out the Cone.
- Once all of the Sunflowers had been added Susan moved onto to adding the Red Fabric Flowers Spray. She cut both apart into individual sections and added them throughout the Cone. She used a bit of Hot Glue on the bottom of each stem before sticking them into the Styrofoam.
- Next Susan did the same thing with the Patriotic Daisies Bush. She cut them into individual pieces and placed them throughout the Cone.
- Lastly Susan added a skirt of Leather Leaf Fern to the Cone when she was finished adding all of the florals. She trimmed some of the length off of the stems and then placed them underneath the last row of florals.
- When finished this Memorial Cone is gorgeous and perfect for honoring loved ones throughout the Summer months.
