DIY Red, White & Boom Teardrop

Meet our Red, White & Boom Teardrop, a bold and festive creation designed by our talented floral designer, Susan! Bursting with vibrant reds, crisp whites, and brilliant blues, this eye-catching piece is packed with playful patriotic details—from star-spangled ribbons to firework-inspired accents that truly capture the spirit of summer celebrations. It’s the kind of design that instantly turns heads and brings a smile, just like that unforgettable line "You look like the 4th of July; makes me want a hot dog real bad.” Fun, spirited, and full of personality, this teardrop is the perfect way to dress up your door and celebrate the season in true all-American style.

Supplies needed:

  • Here's a look at everything that was used in this Teardrop
  • Susan started this Teardrop by first tying the large Bow for the top. She layered each ribbon, tying two loops of each. She also layered in pieces of tails to stick out both sides of the Bow. She secured the Bow with a Chenille Stem and then used that to secure the Bow to the Teardrop.

  • Once the Bow was added, Susan began layering in pieces of the Ficus Greenery and the Red Poppies behind and around the Bow. She used Hot Glue on the end of each stem to help secure it.

  • Next she cut the Patriotic Stars and Rockets into separate sections added them to the top of the Teardrop also. Once those were secure she added pieces of the Blue Filler and a few pieces of the Yellow Pom Poms too.

  • When the top of the Teardrop was complete Susan moved on to working on the mid section. She layered in more of the Ficus Greenery and then added in the various florals too. She secured each piece with Hot Glue.

  • As Susan was working in the middle of the Teardrop she added the Soda Cup Pick to the right hand side. She also layered in more of the florals and accents down that side of the Teardrop.

  • Susan then added the Corndog Pick to the left hand side of the Teardrop. She also layered in more florals and accents in and around it.

  • To finish off this Teardrop Susan tied a small Bow with the remaining ribbon for the bottom of the Teardrop. She then layered in the remaining florals to fill in the rest.

  • The Red, White & Boom Teardrop is more than just a decoration—it’s a celebration of summer, family, and everything we love about the season. Susan truly brought this design to life with layers of texture, movement, and patriotic charm that make it a standout piece for any home. Whether you’re welcoming guests to a backyard barbecue or simply adding a festive touch to your front door, this teardrop is sure to spark smiles all season long.
